Change name of Win2k3 server

Hello all,

I'm moving a server to another network which already has a server with

the same name. They are in different Active Directory domains. Do I

need to change the name of the server I am moving? I thought I would

ask if anyone has had this situation come up before.

The server I'm moving is running:

- Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, SP1

- Terminal Services

- Active directory (Domain Controller)

- File Server

- DNS Server

- DHCP Server

- MS SQL Server 2000

Currently the server name / IP is:

Server1.DomainA.local / 192.168.12.2

The other server with the same hostname is:

Server1.DomainB.local / 192.168.0.2

- Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, SP1

- Active directory (Domain Controller)

- File Server

- DNS Server

- My SQL Server 2000

I'm wanting to keep the DomainA.local and DomainB.local separate.

(There are no Active Directory client PCs for DomainA.local. The

clients connect via Terminal Services).

Any problems with 2 Netbios names on the same LAN?

Thanks,

--CC

You cannot have 2 Netbios names on the same network.
