Wireless connected without my action

I just found that my computer has connected with a "public WiFi" on

its own. I looked once at the wireless network list because there are

new persons living nearby, but I have never connected with anyone

else. The last time I connected with any wireless was last summer!

This is a bit disturbing because that public wireless network to which

I was connected a few minutes ago is no longer in my list of possible

connections. Two others, both with poor signals, are available. The

offending network had a good solid five-bar signal, but it's not

listed now.

Any ideas?

Does your Wireless network has a unique SSID and A good Encryption Key ( you

implemented either WPA PSY, WEP encryption) or your wireless Open to any one

to hook up?.

Yes, i you open the Wireless Control panel and Click View available wireless

network it will show you all the surrounding Wireless Network in the

neighbourhood including yours, but if one of these wireless is not secured

and you using the same Channel (11 Default on the Router) as this wireless

then you are connected to this Network not your real or your own network?.

Do you mean you created a profile for this public WIFI and you can find or

you connected once and you think it will stay in your wireless network

connections control panel?.

There is lots to ask and answer in that aspect.

You can send your Q here, but read these answers first:
