Guest VIDRO Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I know I have done the ULTIMATE SIN. I screwed with the registry without making a backup. The machine boots fine but won’t allow me to log on, I know where the mistake is (outside of not making a BACKUP). Through the recovery council can I copy the DAT file to another p.c. make my modification than copy it back? If so How?
Guest Ron Badour Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Re: Bone Head move requires Copy and Edit DAT file You could temporarily connect the hard drive to another XP PC and then use the hive function of the registry editor in that PC to edit the registry. See the registry editor help file for details. -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2007 "VIDRO" <VIDRO@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3F112815-53F7-4768-B0A5-6AB1F901BFFE@microsoft.com... >I know I have done the ULTIMATE SIN. > I screwed with the registry without making a backup.
