Seth Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I'm completely taken aback that you can't run a repair install on Vista like you can on 2000/XP. If the Startup Repair doesn't work (I've yet to see it fix anything), you're in for a clean install. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. AdvancedSetup Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Yes, not quite the same as it was in 2000 or XP. Good to have other 3rd party repair tools on hand LONG before you need them, and download the MS NTBackup utility for Vista and do backups with it. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Tony D Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 They gotta fix that. I don't know how many times an XP repair saved a computer. Quote Need help with your computer problems? I resurrected this thread because I can now say that the Vista Startup Repair worked great for me. The last known good configuration did nothing. It wasn't easy but with great effort I managed to screw up my system. It took a Linux CD and a hard shutdown while it was running to do it. I never had to work that hard to screw up Millennium Edition. So yes Vista is harder but I managed to mess it up eventually. With great effort though. :p Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else.
