Are they wireless?

It's just strange that both would vanish if not.

Follow Seth's instructions Doug and if you still experience the problem, can you please check your system for any prank software installed. Might be someone's idea to think it would be funny. :)

I considered that as well Goku, but dismissed it as I know what Doug uses for internet security,

One thing I did notice,is just prior to this each time, the pages were very unstable.Jumping up and down for some 5 sec before they settle.Dont know if this could be a pointer,or not.

Should I download and install IE8 BETA?Don't know if that would be a benefit, also.

A foolish question Doug but does this happen regularly or occasionally. I mean do you experience this problem frequently or does it show itself just out of the blues? Also, does the whole screen shakes for five seconds or just the browser window? Please reply as soon as possible. :)

No on IE8 for now.

See what happens with the other mouse and keyboard. I suspect that it's not a mouse and keyboard problem, but rather the whole computer is locking up.

Have you looked at the resources tab on the task manager - just to see if the CPU is throttling or the memory usage is higher than normal?

I bet it will still lock up with the old mouse and keyboard.

Doug,

You mentioned a couple of times that it occurs while you're on the net. So try an IE7 Reset:

1.Open Internet Explorer 7.

2.Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.

3.Click the Advanced tab.

4.Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.

Just below that list you'll see "Restore Advanced Settings". Click on that and the defaults for those settings will be applied.

Hi Guys,Froze after 1hr 15 mins, again. However I did find an odd entry in start up,and was wondering if this could have any bearing.

My question is how did it get there?Just remove from startup?

Also what is the BDE Directory and how do I access it?Thanks

Well, it does sound like an undesirable piece of software so why not remove it. Here is a brief description of what it is and what it does.

Zupdate.exe: A player for 'rich media' advertising. Similar to Onflow. It's other names are Brilliant Digital (company name), B3D Projector (application name). Apart from being downloadable from Brilliant's own legitimate-looking site, it is also stealth-installed by newer versions of KaZaA and other free applications.

It allows sites to use annoying advertising with 3D effects, sound, and so on. However, it does not add its own advertising to other sites. The Projector downloads new components and updates silently.

Code-signing seems to be used, to ensure only Brilliant Digital can write code to be executed by the software.

The Projector has 3D functions, which are always liable to cause problems with some graphics cards and driver versions.

Removal: You can use 'Add/Remove Programs' for 'B3d Projector'. And delete the directory 'BDE' inside your Windows directory, and the files 'bdeinstall.exe', 'bdeinsta2.dll', 'bdefdi.dll', 'bdedata2.dll', 'bdedownloader.dll', 'bdeverify.dll', 'bdesecureinstall.exe' and 'bdesecureinstall.cab' inside your System directory.

Try and see if that uninstalls the program or not. Good Luck. :)

To the best of my knowledge, the scanners should have caught that.

Doug are you updating SAS and MB before you run them, as well as doing full (complete) scans and not Quick scans?

Do you know how to do a memory test Doug?

Do you also know if you have more than one stick of memory installed?

I'm betting either the above is the problem, or the memory.
