Guest ColTom2 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Hi: Recent Windows Update .Net Framework 2.0 apparently added another User Account (ASP.NET Machine etc) as a Limited Account. However, now when I boot up I have to click on my main User Account to finish booting up. Is there anyway that I can choose just to boot straight into my main account without having to select an account? I suppose I could delete the newly established user account and it would go back to the way it was in booting straight up. Thanks, Col Tom
Guest JS Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Re: User Account Login Leave the new account as is, don't delete. Next try Power Toy's Tweak UI from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Install, run and under Logon you will find check boxes to select the accounts you want displayed (you can hide the new .net account)and in the Autologon you can choose to Enable/Disable it by Checking or un-checking the 'Logon automatically' option. More Detail on available features in Tweak UI: http://www.winxpsolution.com/Tweakuixppro.aspx JS "ColTom2" <noemailaddress@nomail.com> wrote in message news:%23OL1yh60HHA.3916@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi: > > Recent Windows Update .Net Framework 2.0 apparently added another User > Account (ASP.NET Machine etc) as a Limited Account. > > However, now when I boot up I have to click on my main User Account to > finish booting up. You can easily boot to your user account. A good way to set it up is via the XP Power Toy TweakUI, Logon, using the autologon setting. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Do set a password for your account - this helps the autologon and matters for other reasons, too, such as allowing tasks that use the Windows Task Scheduler (like backups or virus scans) to run. It is possible to defeat this behaviour, but it's there for security reasons. HTH -pk

Guest Kelly Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 Re: User Account Login This can be caused by the Net Framework update: Welcome to Windows Screen Appears When You Start Windows XP After You Install the .NET Framework 1.1: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=827072 To correct: 1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok. 2. On the Users tab, left click "your user name" then clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click OK. 3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the "user name and password" for the account you want to be logged on each time you start your computer. Added note: (Alex MVP) If you want to logon to one of the other users, hold down shift as the system boots up.
