Guest lucifer94 Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I am having a problem with my desktop. When I tried to uninstall pcAnywhere it renamed a .dll and I can not log into the computer. I have to go in through safe mode, which is no big deal normally. I can bring up the screen in safe mode where I need to press ctrl-alt-delete, but the keyboard quits working. I have tried using both a PS/2 keyboard and USB keyboard. I understand the computer needs to recognize the driver for the keyboard, but I have never had this problem before, and it recognizes the USB mouse just fine. I can not find any answers online, and there is nothing on the MS website. If anyone knows anything that could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Brian

In the right pane, remove the entry for Gina.DLL. Or...run this script and it will do it for you: Restore the Welcome Screen - Gina.Dll Error (Line 45) http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm Is it October already? Guest lucifer94 via WindowsKB.com Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Re: Safe mode I appreciate the url's Kelly, but my main problem is that the keyboard does not work when the main screen comes up in safe mode. I had found out about the awgina.dll fix, which is why I was trying to get in through safe mode. What I am trying to figure out is if it causes other problems, and if there is a way to get the keyboard to work when I try to log in through safe mode. It is a computer for one of my users and we have to push ctrl+alt+delete to get to the log in screen. Since I can not log in to the computer I can not run the awgina.dll fix. If I have to burn down the computer and start over I will, but I am hoping to find a way to get the keyboard to work instead. I appreciate everyones help. Guest Gerry Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Re: Safe mode All keys or just the Function keys. Also you may need to depress the Num Lock key to get numeric part of the keyboard to work. -- Hope this helps. Guest lucifer94 via WindowsKB.com Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: Safe mode None of the keys worked, I could not use any of them. The Num Lock key I could turn off and on sometimes, but even if it was on, ctrl+alt+delete still would not work. I finally gave up and started rebuilding her computer. Thanks for the help Gerry and Kelly. Brian Gerry wrote: >All keys or just the Function keys.
