In a home, I would find it uncomfortable standing up at a wall, interacting, for long periods.I could see it a huge success, if one could operate it from a lounge chair, useing a remote control device.

Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.

Then whats the point of the touch screen when you want to operate it without touching it? :)

Why do I want to touch the screen in the first place? One only wants to get information, from the screen, and I don't care how I retrieve the information.Do you honestly think poking a screen all day would be fun? What's wrong with the software, being updated, and recognizing a lazer pointer,or similar device, instead?

Same result. Not explaining myself, very well here.

Thats what I am saying Doug. Microsoft would be better off making a remote controlled software than install touch screen in all their applications. As you rightly said, what fun is there in prodding a screen all day? :)

I agree. My monitor is comfortably located about 31 inches from my

eyeballs and when I extend my arm towards the monitor there is

8 inches of space between my finger tips and the screen. If I had to

bring the the monitor 8 or 9 inches closer I'd be uncomfortable and

probalby need to put on my reading glasses.

Touch screens are like ball and chaining the user to the monitor.

A better approach is to develop a better device to replace the mouse.

I wonder if a "Touch Pad" that replaces the mouse would be any better.

I hate the touch pads typically found on a laptop but that might only

be because they are so small and require such precision to operate.

An 8" by 10" touch pad might be totally different and much nicer

to operate and that might make a good interface for the same

touch screen technology.
