Telephone Answer Software?

I'm presently looking for a software package, free, share or paid,

that will allow me to answer calls on my PC.

I am NOT looking for VOIP ware such as Skype.

What I am looking for is a solution that allows calls to come in on my

telephone line into the modem/fax card that will give ma a caller ID

but also allow me to answer the phone and use a headset.

There seem to be plenty of packages that will receive voice mail

messages and faxes but so far I am having a problem locating something

that goes the next step to allow one to answer a call as well.

Hi DMK,

You don't say if you are dialup/broadband/ etc. I am on dialup and use

CallWave Internet Answer Machine. It has caller ID, it will take a message,

or you can click it to take the call and it will disconnect you from the

internet so you can take the call if you want, by picking up your phone. I

don't know about a headset. It works good for me. I've had it about 8

months and have had no problems with it.

It says it can be used for broadband too.

Hope this helps.

There used to be a utility produced by Intel around 8 years ago that was

bundled with many fax modems that also supported voice functions. It might

be worth while asking around to see if anyone still has a copy.

Unfortunately, I can't recall what it was called.

It does exactly what you want as well as receiving incoming faxes. It also

allows you to set up a phone menu structure allong the lines of "Press '1'

for this, press '2' for that", so you can annoy your callers as well.

LOL....

I'd like to have a PC based answering system that would

record the message as text, rather than just audio. Guess

that's not on the horizon anytime soon!

That just means you can't afford it on your current budget.

You need a Voicemodem. It should come with software that will allow you

to do most of that, but I'm not sure about the caller ID feature.

Voice modems normally come with software like this. However, not all

modems are equal.

Try to find a copy of talkworks, I use it on my PC for answer phone and

faxing as well and it works great.

DSL but also have a phone line hooked in for faxing out via the

standard POTS.

I'm just looking to be able to put a head set on and be able to answer

there or take a message without picking up a regular phone someplace.

I have software that can do caller ID or take messages but there does

not seem to be a way for me to simply click in with a headset.

Tried that. Works OK but is limited in the demo version.

Goes paid after demo runs out and requests registration.

I was hoping for a freeware or low cost shareware.
