DSTM Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hi Guys,I'm in unchartered waters here with FF3. Would a member please list what essential Add Ons I need. Does for example Media player work? I'm allways up the creek, without a paddle.:D Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I thought you used Opera Dougie anyway? Quote
DSTM Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) I use Opera Wolfey, but if FF3 is better,I'm willing to give it a good try out. Nothing on my Hard Drive,so I thought, why not.:) Opera is good, but Mc Afee site advisor doesn't work with Opera. That has been a concern to me,all along. Just read the description under the add-ons and you will know if you need it or not. A very good decision on the whole. :) -- Goku Quote
DSTM Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Thanks Goku,What I meant by essentials,I was asking whether Flash player media player, etc work with FF3 or I need to download anything.Sorry if my question seemed too mundane for some.:) Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Goku Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Thanks Goku,What I meant by essentials,I was asking whether Flash player media player, etc work with FF3 or I need to download anything.Sorry if my question seemed too mundane for some.:) Not mundane Doug. :) Its just that Firefox is a customizable browser so it is meant to be customized by each user according to his / her own preference. That is why I told you to choose your own set of add-ons so that they enriched your surfing experience. If you want, then you can have Adblock Plus. I count it as an essential as it helps block up useless popups. Then you have the add-on called No Script which blocks all malicious scripts and thus helps prevention of malware. The only problem with No Script is that it also blocks YouTube's scripts and therefore you have to tweak it a lot. Counting that you already have McAfee Site Advisor, Avira, Spyware Blaster, Adblock Plus and Mozilla Firefox 3.0 armed with your safe surfing habits, I doubt if you need anything else to secure yourself. All you need are add-ons to enrich your experience which I am afraid, you will have to choose yourself as I do not know what your preferences are. In the end, choose whatever you like as you have to suit yourselves. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku Quote

Deborah Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hi everyone, I am new and read your message from a Google alert. If you want to try Web of Trust for internet security (similar to Site Advisor, but more accurate) then we have a bookmarklet for Opera. We also have a regular add-on for Firefox if you have committed to them. Opera seems like a great browser, but unfortunately, it doesn't support browser add-ons. Here is the info for the Opera bookmarklet: WOT bookmarklet for Safari and Opera | WOT Web of Trust Thank you, Deborah Web of Trust, Website Reputation Rating Community | WOT Web of Trust Quote
