Guest Alex Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I am having a problem receiving a fax. I have a DSL connection to my computer along with standard phone plugged into the fax modem. I am able to send a fax without any problem. I even have a seperate number for the fax within the same line (a Qwest product called custon ringing). The computer is recognizing the telephone ring, and attempts to answer on the designated ring, but doe not. Therefore, it locks up the line. I have even had a friend attempt to send a fax to me and their machine continues to auto redial. But yet, I can call via my cell phone and get a ring, to which the computer will see, and it will say it is answering, but no answer on my cell phone end with the horrible fax noise. What am I doing wrong? Or is it the modem. I have double checked to make sure everything is enabled. Can someone help. Thanks Alex

If the modem will connect to dial out, it should be able to connect to answer. I suspect the software that tells the modem to answer needs its commands altered. -- Joe =o)

I set it to automatically answer in 1 ring. -- Alias To email me, remove shoes
