XP Hardware Wizard Installing Printer On Startup

I am getting frustrated with this problem: XP system boots up and

EVERY time it give me the "new hardware found" message. There is only

one printer connected to it (USB) and a scanner (SUB) that both work

fine. I have even wiped the existing printer OFF the system and

re-installed drivers and such for it. It still works fine, but I am at

a loss to figure out WHY it is "finding" a new printer at EVERY startup.

Even tried turning PnP setting to manual with no effect. Any suggestions

to kill this nag? ;-Deano

Re: XP Hardware Wizard Installing Printer On Startup

This problem can occur when the printer driver is initially installed. The

printer installation program from the manufacturer does not enable the New

Hardware Wizard to finish its detection of the newly installed printer.

To work around this problem, enable the New Hardware Wizard to finish, even

though the wizard cannot detect a new printer.

Checkpoint: Unhide hidden devices in the Device Manager, view the problem

devices and remove them manually there.
