KingNeil Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 (edited) My LG KU990 can work as a USB modem, by connecting to it through bluetooth and then establishing a connection via dial up. I've gone into my networks in Windows Vista and set up a new one through my phone. http://lh3.ggpht.com/liquidmetalband/SFwsqEE-E0I/AAAAAAAAGWg/odfHcCDahEM/dialling%20to%20ku990.JPG According to the internet, I type the username I should use and the password with the dial code. It connects fine and apparently registers my computer on the network. An appropriate logo is also shown on my phone, indicating a connection. However, I can never manage to load up webpages. When loading up google.com, it says it finds the website's IP, but it never actually manages to load up. Internet Explorer presents me with an error screen. Now, I should also point that I am apparently able to connect using any username/password combination. I don't think that has anything to do with anything. So, any tips? Seth Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help Neil. Let's confirm that you have internet access by bypassing Internet Explorer: Go to Start>Run, type in cmd and click ok. At the command prompt, type in ping Yahoo! (note the space between the G and the W). What are the ping statistics, or does it time out? Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Goku Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 This means that even though you are connected, then you don't have any balance in your internet account or your subscription has ended. I get the same error message here if that is the condition. Can you please check with your ISP for the balance in your account? :) -- Goku Quote
KingNeil Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 I should have already told you, but the internet works fine on my phone, so surely it can't be anything to do with subscriptions running out. Any other suggestions? Quote
RandyL Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hi King; You may have to contact LG to see for sure if your particular mobile phone can supply an internet connection for your computer in your region. It may be that you don't have the proper software to connect which LG may be able to supply. You have Vista right? It's also possible that your ISP might not support a mobile connection via your computer through a mobile phone connection. If I were you I would contact LG support and whatever ISP you have to see if everything is compatable first. Quote We are all members helping other members. KingNeil Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 I can definitely connect to my phone via bluetooth. I can transfer files and all. And as I said, it comes up on my phone with a kind of PC-to-PC logo indicating a network connection. The other guy said I can get a ping, so surely my ISP/phone operator allows internet, but I guess it would be best to phone them up. Quote
RandyL Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I would phone them too if I were you. Since you are paying your ISP it's in their best interest to help you get connected or you surely wouldn't keep sending them money. They know that. Keep in mind though that connecting a mobile phone to your ISP may not be the same thing as connecting your computer through a mobile phone modem. Those types of connections vary for different reasons. My brother did this once and only certain phones and ISP's were compatable in his area. Quote We are all members helping other members.
