Autorun an program on logon to TS?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'd like BGINFO to run whenever someone logs into TS on any of our servers.

BGINFO is currently in the startup group of ever server and it shows if you

are on the server directly. I need it to run on logon to any TS session -

is there a way to make that happen?

Thanks

You can run it, but you cannot force users to see it :-)

I believe that BgInfo works by creating a custom bitmap used as

wallpaper, isn't it?

You'll have to modify this GPO setting:

Computer Configuration - Administrative templates - Windows

Components - Terminal Services

"Enforce Removal of Remote Desktop Wallpaper"

From the "Explain" tab:

Servers running Windows Server 2003 do not display wallpaper by

default to remote sessions.

If the status is set to Enabled, wallpaper never appears to a

Terminal Services client.

If the status is set to Disabled, wallpaper might appear to a

Terminal Services client, depending on the client configuration

(see the Experience tab in the Remote Desktop Connection options

for more information).

If the status is set to Not Configured, the default behavior

applies.

Thanks - I'll look into that. I can manually run BG info - which is a

shortcut in my startup and on my desktop and it runs in TS with no issues.

I just wanted it to run automatically on each profile logon.

There are many places where you can do that.

The Startup folder in the All Users profile on the TS or in a

Group Policy would be easiest.
