Guest mcp6453 Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 One of my XP computers has developed a problem that appears to be DNS related. Initially I was unable to see the Workgroup computers in My Network Places (clicking on "View workgroup computers." After going through the "Set up a home or office network" wizard again, I can see the networked computers, but clicking on the icons gives an "U\\computer is not accessible" error. If I browse to the networked computer with the IP address (Start | Run \\192.168.1.xx), everything works fine. The problem is not just reaching the one computer, it is with all networked computers.) Therefore, it seems to me that something in connection with DNS is hosed on the computer. (It is set for DHCP. All other computers are able to browse the other computers with no problem.) Here is what I have tried, without success: ipconfig /flushdns netsh winsock reset catalog netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt nbtstat -RR Remove and install Client for Microsoft Networks Remove and install File and print sharing The windows firewall is turned off, and no other firewall is installed. I cannot identify any relevant errors in Event Viewer. All Automatic Services are started except IPSEC Services. When I try to start it, it spits up with Error 1747. Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? (I was going to remove and install Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), but it is grayed out.)
