Guest Jeff Kerry Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I am currently running XP Pro which I used for video editing. I have 3 stata HD each 500 gigs, 4 gigs mem. wiith a dual core processor at 2.421 gHz. Is there a way to install Media Center on one of the drives and have a choice on boot up which system I want to use at the time. Thanks, Jeff
Guest Jerry Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Re: Install MCE with XP Pro on another drive What you want is a dual-boot system. The usual procedure is to install the older operating system first, then the newer. In your case I don't know which is older versus newer. XP Pro older than MCE? Or the other way around. You could also look into software - System Commander is one option. <Jeff> wrote in message news:11C312AA-13B7-441B-BF4F-47058A0D35DC@microsoft.com... >I am currently running XP Pro which I used for video editing. As such, might you consider equipping your PC with removable HDDs? I don't know if you're acquainted with that type of hardware configuration, but it has substantial advantages for the desktop PC user, especially in cases like yours where you're contemplating a multi-boot configuration. Since you already have multiple HDDs, the additional expense of equipping your desktop PC with the mobile rack(s) to effect this removable HDD configuration would be minimal. Anyway, I thought I would bring this to your attention if you're not familiar with it. If you (or any other user coming upon this thread) want some more details about this area, so indicate and I'll furnish them. Anna

Yes, but why do you want both? MCE alone should do everything you need. MCE is a superset of XP Professional. It has everything in Professional (plus is media-related features), with one exception: it does not permit you to join a domain (which very home users need or want to do). -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup
