Guest Dan Dom Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 When attempting to go into my display files for changing wallpaper, screen display, or otherwise on the control panel, I get an exception occurance and will not allow my in to make changes. Is there a virus involved here or file corruption? Please let me know.

Options to change wallpaper may be missing or unavailable on a Windows XP-based computer: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=921049 Open a run command and type in: regedit.exe click [OK] on the Registry Editor locate these Keys and make the appropriate changes: [-]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop= In the right Pane/Window locate and delete this entry "NoChangingWallPaper" or change its value to 0. [-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop] In the right Pane/Window locate and delete this entry "NoChangingWallPaper" or change its value to 0. [-]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System= In the right Pane/Window, locate and delete these two entries "Wallpaper" and "WallpaperStyle". [-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System = In the right Pane/Window, locate and delete these two entries "Wallpaper" and "WallpaperStyle". Close the registry try the Display properties and chnage the wallpaper, does it accept the changes?. First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies by doing this: Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet Connections >> Double click Internet Options. On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps: General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs | Advanced Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
