Guest Charlie Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 After I download a wmv file,I can't open it.The old hour glass just sits there for hours.(Pardon the pun)... I have 2 media players on my machine so something should work.Guess I need to reset some media player settings. Anyone know how?? Thanks!! Charlie
Guest Heather Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: wmv Files. Yep.....open your media player(s) and click on Tools, the Options. You will find a tab somewhere there for Extensions. In Windows Media Player, mine shows "File Type". Tick off the ones you want. I have it set to play 'wmv' files. Good luck.....Heather "Charlie" <Charlie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3BF77A02-346A-4D0C-9D67-4346B7DE221D@microsoft.com... > After I download a wmv file,I can't open it.The old hour glass just > sits > there for hours.(Pardon the pun)... Guest Mart Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: wmv Files. You imply (but haven't confirmed) that one or other of your WMP's has worked with .wmv files before, so could it just be a corrupted (or faulty) download? There are several .wmv files integral to WinMe which you could test it with. There is WINME.WMV in your C:\Windows\Options\Install (or CABS) folder and some others in C:\Windows\Help\Tour\Video folder However, I would concur with Heather's suggestion to ensure that the file association is correct. Guest Heather Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Re: wmv Files. Glad to hear it was easily sorted out. I prefer another music player, but use WMP for 'wmv' jokes, etc. Cheers....Heather "Charlie" <Charlie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F70B7BF2-1B78-4CBC-B0C0-0B5F8619E4ED@microsoft.com... > Thanks Heather!!The player preferences got out of wack I guess.I reset > them > and all is well...You folks know your stuff..Thank's again...Charlie > > "Heather" wrote: > >> Yep.....open your media player(s) and click on Tools, the Options. >> You >> will find a tab somewhere there for Extensions.
