Hi Jake

Welcome to FPCH

You are talking about clicking on Command Prompt (CMD) yes?

Ok

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode and tried Last Known Good Configuration?

Tap F8 on boot up to get into Safe mode.

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Jake. :)

Are you using Windows XP SP3? If not, then I suggest you update your computer as soon as possible through the Automatic Updates. The error code you get is normally received when there is an access violation. Microsoft has released a Hotfix but it is not for command prompt. However, I suggest you give it a try and see how it goes.

Windows XP patch to fix the Explorer.exe stop error: 0xc0000005 (KB938828)

If the above Hotfix doesn't work, then it is most likely a faulty RAM module. In that case, our hardware experts will guide you through a solution. Please let us know how it turns out. Good Luck. :)
