Do you know what Operating System the computer is running?

DOS, Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista?

What is the name of the game and approximately how old is it?

Does the computer seem to work okay aside from this game installation issue?

Have I got this right as in the CD DRIVE is doing nothing?

the power/IDE cable could have just become loose or the CD drive may have just died

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Mike. :)

Ron, I think he is using Windows Vista Ultimate. At least, that is what he has stated in his profile. :)

If you are using Windows Vista, then some games might not work on it as they were probably not designed to be supported on the Operating System. In that case, I suggest that you try and install some more supported games and see if they work or not. Also please elaborate the steps you have taken in your next post. Let us know how it goes.

It may well be Goku that Mikey is just working on an old box and Vista will be on his main system.

Have you removed the old remnants of the game via add or remove.

and then manually gone to the C:/ program files and the maker of the game eg Activision and delete the folder - restart and then try and reinstall the game.

if there is a problem with the disk as in its scratched then the game may not install properly.

ok - so you open the drive bay and then insert the disk and then what nothing or does the drive not even open?

Hi mikey;

I'm not a gamer so I can't offer anything. We do have some techs with some knowledge though.

I see you have XP Home.

What are your other specs?

May I ask what does it say on your installation CD? I see it can be download as a demo or purchased but we need to know this information.

The more we know the more help we can provide. So far we have very little information to go on.

Please get back to us so we can help.

Mikey please don't make another post on your original thread.

I have merged them.

I hate to be a bother in this regard, but I actually had a similar problem with RCT3. I managed to get it working by closing the autorun screen, going to My Computer, right-clicking on the drive, and selecting "Explore". Through the file manager, I found the install file itself, and ran that. (I think it was setup.exe, it's been a long time.)

Setup.exe is to install the game -

are you launching from a shortcut on the desktop or are you trying to launch from the CD -

wth the CD in goto where you installed the game (normally C drive)

C:/ program files/ the game maker ie atari, activision etc -

when in there there should be an icon of the game - click that.
