Custom Built PC Query

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but my problem could be incapability with the motherboard, so I thought this maybe the best place.

 

I have tried to build a brand new pc for a friend, which isn't going to plan. the components are:

 

Gigabyte S-series GA-P31-DS3L motherboard;

Intel E2180 processor;

1 x 2gb DDR2 667 Ram;

Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 graphics card;

250 Hitachi hard drive.

 

Only after installing and going to plug the monitor into the VGA slot on the back of the motherboard, did I realise this specific one doesn't have one. I tried both slots of the graphics card, but still can't get a picture. I also tried the ram in each of the DDR slots, with no luck.

 

Also the picture less pc runs for a random amount of time, before rebooting.

 

Does anyone have any ideas how I could sort this, or if any of these parts are incombatible?

 

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Well for a start if you want to run 2GB of memory you should do it via 2 x 1GB rather than a singular stick.

 

All supported CPU's and Memory types should be listed in the motherboard manual.

Hi Thunder -

The problem will not be the board - its the best budget one to get at the moment so good choice ;)

The problem will be the memory this board only supports PC2-6400, PC2-8500.

Do you have any in yours that you can put in to see of it works - you can get 2GB of dual channel Patriot PC6400 from ARIA for £25 Inc VAT.

I took the 2gb DDR2 back, as it was only pc2 5300, and exchanged it for two 1gb DDR2 800 pc2 6400 pieces of RAM. Now the system, is running smoothly.
