maynardvdm Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Hi Run SuperAntiSpyware again, but make sure you update it first. Also click on the link below to run the Trend Micro online scan: Trend Micro Housecall and click on Scan Now and follow the instructions. After that i'll reccomend another online scan with ESET. Hi maynardvdm. I went to that site and it didn't find anything wrong. I updated SASuper Spyware before i ran it yesterday but i updated it again and all it found were tracking cookies. My understanding is that those ar not bad right? Quote

Nikki Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Follow this tutorial on how to reset Internet Explorer's advanced settings: Restore advanced settings in IE7 Do NOT click on reset Just choose Restore advanced settings I first restored advanced settings and i still couldn't download that Malwarebytes so i reset and now when i go to websites it has something pop up saying add-ons are disabled. So i clicked on it and up popped a box that had all of my add-ons in it but i don't know which ones to fix. It doesn't tell me.They all say disabled now. The only one that i know to enable is IESpell. Now things are worse! :( I didn't see where you said to not reset. I had to set up internet explorer again and i don't know if i even did that right. :( Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Right Nikki we are all over the place on this because you are not reading the advice that is being offered properly. You must slow down and read everything. Follow the advice I am about to give you and post back. Please download the latest version of HijackThis from Trend Micro and click on Download Hijack This Installer and save it to your desktop. Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install HijackThis. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis . Click on Install. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in Notepad. Include this log by copying and pasting in your next reply. Notes: Do not use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted. Do not have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless, or required for your computer to run like it should. Quote

I am following your advice but made only 1 mistake. Please bear with me. I am trying my best. You are not listening to me when i tell you that it won't let me download that or any other programs. :( Quote
AdvancedSetup Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) Hello Nikki, I will take over to help assist you with this issue. Please all other members do not reply to this thread anymore. So you say you have SUPER Antispyware already installed on the system? Please start SAS and if it will allow you, let it do an UPDATE. If it hangs or won't allow the update just shut the computer off, then restart it and this time run SAS but do not do an update. Just run a SCAN and when it's done scanning make sure you let it FIX anything it finds. Try that and get back to me please. Let me know if it ran, if it was able to do an update, and what it found (it should save a log for you). Edited June 28, 2008 by AdvancedSetup Quote Need help with your computer problems? Nikki Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) Hi AdvancedSetup. I ran the scan and i did the update and i have 14 tracking cookies. How do i give you the log? Edited June 29, 2008 by AdvancedSetup Quote
AdvancedSetup Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Hi Nikki, Well if it only found cookies then I don't need the log. Cookies are harmless. Just try to relax and we'll see if we can get your system fixed up for you. On the bottom left click on the START menu and then click on the Run... item and then type in this WINVER and then click OK. That should bring up a small window that will tell you what Operating System you're running. If you don't see the START menu then you probably are running Windows VISTA. Basically most users are using one of these. Windows XP Home Editon Windows XP Professional Windows XP Media Center Edition Windows Vista Home Basic Windows Vista Home Premium I need to know if you're using Windows XP or if you're using Windows Vista as the methods of repair or diagnostics are different.
