I have just tried overclocking for the first time

This is a message I got from a friend,I cannot help him as I know nothing about overclocking and saving settings after,as you helped me before, so I was wondering if you could help my friend.the message reads

 

I tinkered with OC'n my setup... I used the Nvidia nTune application,

but realized that when I restart my PC it does not save my settings.

Its supposed to allow me to when its done, but won't.

I reinstalled nTune, and same thing.

What it does is use a complex searching algorithm

to determine the best stable performance for your system.

The quick version does everything for you in 20min.

I have figured out how to save my profile,

but would like to know how to make the PC load this profile when windows starts.

Any other OC tips appreciated.

Hello Shimano. Overclocking is not recommended by most users and therefore can be a very risky business which may leave your computer unbootable. However, if he still wants to overclock his graphics card, then try and use some other utility like RivaTuner 2.09. See if the utility helps him overclock his graphics card or not. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck. :)

You will get very little benefit from overclocking a GPU unless you have something like a watercooled setup (the amount you have to push the card to get a noticable benefit produces lots of heat) - you gain much better increases from OC'ing the RAM and CPU ;)

 

*****YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS CAN HANDLE THE OC - if you have a cheap MOBO the amount of extra Volts you have to put through the MCH can blow your MOBO*****

 

And with OC'ing the CPU and RAM you get an all round system boost not just games.

OC'ing is not something to try just because you have never done it - RESEARCH first and have all the help at hand before you try -

I too was an OC'ing Noob at one point :p
