slow flash video playback

Hello,

I have a very slow video playback (very choppy) whenever I play

streaming video on the internet. I have read many posts to solve this problem

but I cannot fix this. I am connected to a broadband connection for my

internet. The internet runs very quickly. My computer has a lot of disk space

and 512 RAM. I have defragmented my computer as well as done various cleaning

to the system including checking for malware, viruses, disk cleanup. I only

have 40 processes running which are mostly mcafee applications. I don't know

what else I can do but everything I have tried does not fix the problem. I

know my connection can give very good playback because about 4 months ago the

playback was excellent. Can you please help me out, I don't know what to do

and its driving me crazy! Thank you very much for all your help.

Are you using Windows Media Player or another application? You may have to

adjust the performance properties.

Does this occur when you stream from every web site, or just one or two?

Could be an issue with the server you are viewing from (e.g., high activity

loads).

Now this is going to sound bad, and I don't recommend it all the time, but

temporarily disable McAffee and see if the lag returns. You may have to

adjust the scanning properties.

Re: slow flash video playback

I close every application in order to test the speeds so this cannot be it.

Whenever I stream from abc.com or netflix.com or alloftv.net (which runs

flash player) or even youtube at times this happens; any website that runs

flash/shockwave. Youtube seems to be the fastest but still lags. I have

attempted to disable MacAfee but I am not exactly sure if disabled it

completely, if that sounds inaccurate let me know. I don't know exactly how

to disable McAfee. I adjusted performance properties by making the virtual

memory paging file: 1000-2000. I am not sure if this is what you mean.

Re: slow flash video playback

I have learned to disable McAfee completely. This has made the downloading

speeds very fast. Buffering the rest of the video finished very fast. But

even still after the "bar" finishes and resume to play the video, it is

normal for about a minute and then it becomes choppy again. I have kept the

task manager open to see what happens to the cpu usage and it peaks at 100%

almost immediately after I start the video. I have erased all video codecs

except for WMP codecs and Flash plug-ins and I left Direct X9c thinking a

conflict of codecs could be the problem, but this did not resolve the issue.

Can you please help me out I would really like to solve this issue. I really

appreciate all your help.

Thank you,
