how to start the system monitor from the command line?

In windows xp, is there something like "sysmonitor.exe" which can be

executed from the shell?

The applet you require is I believe....

 

"perfmon.msc"

Indeed it can !

Either from the Run / Open window

or the C:\ prompt in a command window

or Full screen Command Prompt.
