Mouse keeps resetting even when I don't restart.

This just started happening in the last few weeks. I set the mouse for a left handed user (me), then, without the computer restarting, it just resets back. I've tried the recommendation I found from previous posts about this issue, but nothing has worked. I'm at a lost.
