How do you associate apps with a new desktop in Windows 11? Posted instructions are unclear.

I'm trying to create a new desktop in Windows 11. That's easy, but I can't get apps to associate with the new desktop - they are all available from every desktop and deleting a link in one desktop deletes the link in all of them. The instructions say to create a new desktop and then open the apps you want to use. What's meant by that? I don't want to continue experimenting as I'm wiping out links in my original desktop. A video example would help a lot.
