Small Office Setup Suggestions Requested

I am setting up a small office server with 3 users on a single Windows 2000

Server. The current plan is to keep things at low level of complexity in

this 3 person office. So what I am thinking is to setup the server as a

local file server with all local accounts and passwords that do not expire.

 

One person has a laptop and they want to use offline folders with automatic

file synchronization when they dock and undock their laptop.

 

Will this work on Windows 2000 Server? Do I have to move them up to Server

2003? Does I have to install a domain with active directory?

 

All thoughts and recommendations are most welcome!

It will work fine but if you change passwords you will have to change it

in two places etc...

 

With 3 users would not be as much of an issue, in effect you will be

setting it up in a workgroup you could do this with XP also.
