Guest Aidan-Eire Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hi, I have a bit of a dilemma. Due to firewalls between terminal server and licensing server I need to open up ports to allow this traffic. Howerver our security policy won't allow this as required ports are too unsecure... port 135 445 and 1025-65000,. Can anybody please tell me if there is a way yo change these ports and ideally tie down all the traffic to one assigned port?? Thanks for any replies!, Aidan.
Guest Helge Klein Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Re: Possible to change network ports used by terminal services licensi I think the TS uses DCOM when talking to it's licensing server. Unfortunately DCOM communications between two servers cannot (read: should not) be restricted to one single port. Use a small port range instead. Additionally you always need port 135 (TCP I think). The following article from the Microsoft KB explains how to configure this: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B300083&x=11&y=14 I hope this helps.
