Guest Fred615 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I have a laser printer that I had been using with a USB to Parallel adapter but after that connection got kind of funky, I went back to using the standard LPT1 port with Parallel cable. Now when I boot up, the printer appears in the Printer & Fax folder, and although I have it as default, the icon is grayed out and won't print. After I delete the printer and "Add New Printer", it isn't grayed out and it works fine. When I reboot the next time the icon is grayed out again but won't print until I delete and re-install it.. I'm running XP Pro SP2 on an Intel Core 2 2.66 Ghz cpu. I have a number of USB devices attached but no other printers. Also have a DVD RW and an eternal USB 250GB drive. Two internal drives; a SATA 250Gb and an IDE 130 Gb. Although it only takes 40 seconds to delete and re-install, it is too annoying.. Any ideas?
Guest Bob I Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Re: Printer won't work after reboot Perhaps completely uninstalling it, and disconnect it. Restart the computer. Now start from scratch and install it on the LPT port. Guest Rich Barry Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Re: Printer won't work after reboot Fred, recheck the settings in the Bios for the Parallel Port.
