Phone Link App not requesting Delivery Reports

I have my phone set to show delivery reports when I send a text message and this works well every time I send a text through the phone. When I use Phone Link to send a text it no longer requests a delivery report and I cannot find a setting to request a delivery report. Is this a feature or am I doing something wrong?
