Hi folks when i turned on my pc today the picture was distorted really messed up i waited till it had finished startup then switched it off then started it up again and it seems fine now but just worried there my be a problem any ideas guys....

You might need an updated graphics driver Alan.

 

What's the make and model of your pc and are you using onboard graphics or a card?

Hi Wolfey the graphics card is a few weeks old the make and model of my pc is as follows:

packard bell imedia mc 2470

pentium D 820 2.80ghz

2Gb RAM

600 watt ATX psu

8600GT 1MB NVIDIA Graphics card

Can you go describe how it seemed to be messed up and was ok once the OS had loaded Alan?

there just lines and squares could'nt make anything out and it wasnt ok after the os loaded i had to turn it off by holding the power button it is ok now though

I'd make sure the graphics plug is secure to the pc Alan and if running a TFT then on both pc and monitor.

If you get lines on the screen its normally the RAM on the GPU - do they have adequate cooling - the coolers on GPU's are very rarely enough - you should at least have one fan blowing over the GPU -
