Guest Mike Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Ok, we have a client that currently has two terminal servers. ATL-TS-01 and ATL-TS-02 ATL-TS-01 is the terminal server when 100% of the daily users (say up to 28) connect when working remotely. ATL-TS-02 is for a handful of users to use for a single application (think compliance or HR). Now here is a kicker. The handful of users that connect to ATL-TS-02 will also connect to ATL-TS-01. Their profiles are not roaming, so they have one profile with all the applications that have been installed on ATL-TS-01 etc, and their profiles on ATL-TS-02 also have local profiles with a few custom applications available to them. Also items like Office or Adobe are not installed on ATL-TS-02. Now here is the situation, they are in the process of building out a remote site for Business Continuity as well as for Dist. Recovery purposes. This data center in another state, on a seperate subnet (but same domain) will also get a Terminal Server - call it COL-TS-01. Also they are wanting to take ATL-TS-01 down and put up a new server. The main reason behind this is ATL-TS-01 is running on Standard Edition, and not Enterprise. ATL-TS-01 in the future wil have more and more users added to it, and thus they want the ability in the future to load balance. Thus the need for Enterprise Server. So we have been brought in to work on this as well as building 5 or 6 servers that will be replication servers for apps in the offsite data center. The main questions I have are as follows: 1) Is there an easy way to move the profiles that are stored locally on ATL-TS-01 to the new Term Serv running Enterprise Edition? 2) If I use GP or under the Terminal Services tab in a user's properties in AD to setup a roaming profile, will it affect the user profiles of those also logging on to ATL-TS-02? 3) If I set the profiles to a share on a file server say ATL-File-01, and that folder is replicated to a server in the data center... can I create a new terminal server group for the data center in active directory and set that GP for the roaming profiles to the data center's file server shared folder? Thanks much in advance...
