What do you mean by: "my network" "disconnect it" ?? If your network is a router (DSL/Cable modem) then you should possibly configure said router to only allow certain machines - via MAC Address. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Guest Newbie Coder Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Re: Need to locate a computer Bob I, How would that help? It will just shotdown, reboot the machine... If the machine is using a router acting as a DHCP server then the IP would still be fixed to that MAC address for a certain time -- Newbie Coder (It's just a name) "Bob I" <birelan@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:%2365p9Kg2HHA.728@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Presuming you are the admin, use Shutdown.exe against the computer in > question. > > Enrique wrote: > > > I have a Windows XP computer connected to my network and I'm trying to > > determine how to disconnect it from the network when all I know is computer > > name, OS and IP address? > > > > Enrique > > > > >
Guest Bob I Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Re: Need to locate a computer Since a shutdown machine is useless to the "user". The User should be locating you. ;-) Newbie Coder wrote: > Bob I, > > How would that help?
