DSTM Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Hi Guys,I need some advice,Please. A friend can't work out how to send me a home Video,by Email.Too complicated from what I have googled. So the person uploaded it to Tinypic, and said to download it, to my hard drive. That seems the easiest. I need a program, that is easy to use, to get it to my Hard Drive.I have Utube Downloader, thats all.Is there a program that can be used for just about any Video download?Would somebody be kind enough to recommend what I need,to do this, that is simple to use.Thanks.:) Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Ask your friend what file format they uploaded the video in Dougie then get a video player that supports whatever file format it is. If they upped in say windows media player format then just down it and open it with media player. Quote
DSTM Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 (edited) Will do, and thanks for the quick reply,Wolfey.:) But,don't I need special software, to get it from Tinypic, to my Hard Drive, first, mate. Then view it. Edited July 5, 2008 by DSTM Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Video files are massive Dougie and the most you would get via normal email would be a mere snippet or up to the limit set by the email provider, example 20 MB which is nothing in terms of video files. Let us know how you go on and if you get problems buddy ok. :) Quote
DSTM Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 This Video is only about 60 sec long, and she couldn't send it, by Outlook or Gmail.Dont know why.I will get in touch, and find out what happened. Will get back, when I know something. Thanks mate. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
DSTM Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 We didn't realize, Videos have huge MB's, Wolfey.Best to upload to Photobucket,or the like, and I viewed it with Windows Picture and Fax viewer,no probs. Thanks for your help, once again, mate.Much appreciated.:) Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Dalo Harkin Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 You could also use a compression software and then unzip the other end. DSTM Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Hi Dalo,I sent instructions to this Lady, to try Zipping it as you say.She said she still couldnt send it.I gave her my Gmail address, as it accepts a larger MB transfer,or so I thought. The Video she took was too dark, and asked me if I knew of a software that would lighten it.She was given some Programs, thanks to Goku, but she says those programs, are beyond her, at her age to navigate. This is a snapshot of the Video in Question. She has given up I think. She thought, I may have been able to get it lightened, for her and send it back,But I havent a clue.It was her Grandsons presentation, and can't be repeated.I think she just has to live with it.Thanks for your interest, much appreciated. http://i32.tinypic.com/2wn1awx.png Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
Dalo Harkin Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 You would be better using something like NERO for the lightening - if she copies and pastes the file somewhere and then right clicks and compresses the file and then attaches that to the email - job done :) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
RandyL Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Of course it depends on the file type if compression would make much difference. Am I correct on that Dave? Just curious. DSTM Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 (edited) Thanks Dalo, will pass on the instructions.Takes so long, getting answers by Email, from her.She is such a nice Lady, and would like to help her,if possible. Will post again as soon as I know something.:) EDIT.Just read your post Randy.I will ask her to mouse over the File,to find out File type.Is that how you find out? Dalo Harkin Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Randy - depending on the size of the file it makes a difference - something small it would not compress much and some files compress more than others. I tend not to use compressed files other than securing them over email etc. to find out what the file is right click on it and then its on properties - tells you the file and what it uses to open the file Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
Goku Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Hello Doug. Can you tell her to upload the video on a third party file sharing site like Rapidshare or Mediafire? You can download the video from thereon and start a new thread on editing it. We will gladly assist you in any way we can. :) -- Goku Quote
RandyL Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Thanks Dave. I usually only compress or zip files when I email to get by the filters on certain file types. I have tried compressing more with Windows when I was dealing with files such as wmv but didn't see much difference in the size. I suppose because it's already compressed. Thanks for the info Dave. help4me Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I myself use yousendit (google it ;) ) to send large files. They offer free accounts, and paid accounts. Paid accounts allow even bigger emailed file sizes. But so far I have not need more than what the free account offers.
