Hi,

My DVD drive reads and plays DVDs fine, but it just doesn't see CDs, data or music.

Your help is appreciated.

Regards

Moe

Hello and Welcome to FPCH Moe. :)

Is it a DVD / CD Combo drive? It should normally be written on the CD Drive.

I assume that this drive once worked with both CD's and DVD's. True?

If the drive is a combo as Goku mentioned, and I suspecct that it probably is, then there may be a problem with the hardware. Although the single drive is designed to operate with both CD's and DVD's, there are some separate pieces of electronics inside the drive.

If you can't get the machine to recognize any CD's then the CD portion of the drive has probably failed.
