Guest John Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Hi there, Since Thursday 26th July, every time I restart my computer, XP reverts to the restore point dated 26th July. I also lose any emails in Outlook since that date, and any AVG and Spyware scan updates are also lost. Also any database work was being lost until I moved the database onto a different drive. This one has really got me stumped. Regards John
Guest Bert Kinney Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Re: XP reverting to old restore point Hi John, Open the Event Viewer and look for any "sr" and "srservice" logs that may appear, and post them here. Guest John Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: XP reverting to old restore point THanks Bert - however believe it or not there are no "sr" of srservice" entries in that lot. However there is a heap of "service control" entries showing errors. I am seriously thinking of doing a reformat and reinstall but can't until next week. Guest Bert Kinney Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: XP reverting to old restore point Hi John, Not having an event log makes me think System Restore is not what's restoring the system. Another clue is System Restore would not be effecting email in Outlook. When the system is restored, do you get a "Restoration Complete" box as shown on this page? http://bertk.mvps.org/index.html Regards, Bert Kinney MS-MVP Shell/User http://bertk.mvps.org Member: http://dts-l.org John wrote: > THanks Bert - however believe it or not there are no "sr" of srservice" > entries in that lot.
