Guest Chris Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 If I go to c drive -> documents & settings, it lists folders of the users on this computer. How do I go about changing a folder name (username as well)??

How do I go about changing a folder name (username as well)?? The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username) _cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been. So, your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username desired. You can then delete the old user account(s). How do I go about changing a folder name (username as well)?? Hi Chris What Bruce said is good advice, but there is a method of changing the user profile folder name. MVP Ramesh has a page on it here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/userpath.htm Be sure to read the "Important Note" first. The good thing about this procedure is that it's reversible, so if you do find any programs acting strangely after you try it, you can undo your changes and use the "copy profile" method Bruce mentioned. Let us know how it goes :-) -- Nightowl
