rbeau Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I've been trying to install Windows XP on an HP Pavillion a230n. It keeps saying that there is no windows XP-compatiable partition. I try to create one according to the screen but I then get the message of an "Unknown Drive" Any thoughts? Thanks, Bob Quote
Jamey Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 During the screen where you choose the partition to install Windows XP, you must first remove all existing partitions. Warning: this will delete all data on the drive. Once no partitions exist on the disk, simply press Enter and opt for a quick format. Quote
pc tech Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Hi rbeau your pc is branded and should come with recovery media you also may have a sata drive and will need to install the drivers for the hard drive to be recognised by xp even if you patition the drive and format it in dos xp will not recognise it without the drivers for the sata drive these normally will come on floppy when windows gives you a chance to install 3rd party drivers you need to press F6 and it will prompt for these Quote
