How do I change the default FTP browser from IE to something else?

Currently when clicking an ftp:// link in an email, IE comes up.

Thanks, Jay

When I installed Firefox FTP, it set itself as the default FTP browser,

or perhaps there was option to do that within its preferences. If you

look at Control Panel, Folder Options, File Types, one of the early file

types is:

____________________________________________

| Extensions | File Types |

|------------+------------------------------|

| (None} | URL:File Transfer Protocol |

|____________|______________________________|

When I highlight it, click Advanced button, double-click "Open" (to

edit), I see:

Action:

Open

Application used to perform action:

C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE -requestPending -osint -url "%1"

Use DDE

DDE Message:

"%1",,0,0,,,,

Appliction:

Firefox

DDE Application Not Running:

Topic:

WWW_OpenURL

This could be quite different for another ftp utility though.

Thanks, been there done that, doesn't work. IE is firmly entrenched for

whatever reason.

Also, there is no setting for default in FireFTP extension for FF. Nor

is there one for FTP in the FF preferences.

The closest I could find: Clock Tools, Add-ons, FireFTP, Options,

Interface tab, "Configure FTP links in Firefox to automatically use

FireFTP". That must be the default though since I've never looked in

here before.

Maybe something here:

http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=make+fireftp+default&qt_s=Search+Groups

Right, ftp links on a web page in FF auto-open FireFTP. FTP links in

Thunderbird auto-open IE regardless of whatever else is the default browser.
