Keep getting "error insufficient space" on Robocopy when we try to back up hardrive

My mom's computer crashed and her OS disappeared, so we're trying to get her files copied through DOS Robocopy. But we keep getting a warning for insufficient space. This makes no sense as her computer drive only has 500 gigs on it and the external we're using has an available 1.18 Tb. We've tried the quota thing, which did not work (or maybe we didn't do it right). We've tried COPYALL, which almost worked. It showed it downloaded some files but not others but those files were not put on the hardrive. Any help?
