hello again everyone . i have a problem involving my cd/dvd rw drive.my computer is an advent 7086 operating on windows xp home edition . i have nti cd dvd maker program which used to work fine but now tells me when i try to copy a dvd that NO SUPPORTED DRIVE FOUND .Can anybody help me out ?:o

Can I just ascertain what you are trying to copy, are they shop bought dvd's?

dvd drive

 

no Wolfey they are mostly dvds from my dvd camcorder as well as old dvd rw discs with tv programmes on them

Ok have you looked in Disk Management in Admin Tools in Control Panel after inserting a disk to see if it shows there.

 

If not then have a look in the bios to see if it's shown there.

DVD BIOS

 

CANT FIND THE BIOS AND I BOUGHT THE LAPTOP 3 YRS AGO SO THE OPTIC IS PROBABLY OLDER AGAIN.THE DRIVE PLAYS ALL MY DVDS OK JUST SEEMS TO BE UNABLE TO FIND DRIVE WHEN IN NTI CD/DVD GOLD , PLEASE EXCUSE ME BEING THICK

On boot up you should see a message that says something along the lines of "Press Del (example) to enter Setup.

 

The key could be F2, F10 etc.

 

In the main screen in the bios you should see a similar picture to the one shown here.

 

Do you see that the cdrom device is shown?

If you can't see yours when in setup it may have died.
