maynardvdm Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Hi Make sure you are using the correct uppercase and lowercase letters, because it is case sensative. Check that Caps Lock is off. RandyL Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Since you're using XP this might just be a password issue if there is one. There is one thing you could try for now. Go into safe mode by tapping the F8 key at bootup. Choose Safe Mode. If you see an account named Administrator log into that. If you see a password prompt click cancel (or similar). Once signed in go to the Control Panel and look for User accounts. Locate your account and remove the password. It's worth a try. I've been able to do this sometimes. brunoalan Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 The f8 key does not take me any where! it just takes me into the log in window, I have repeatly tapped it it before it does not work mate Quote
RandyL Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 F8 will get you into boot options if done correctly. It may take you several trys to get it right. It can be tricky at times. Remember to repeatedly tap the key at bootup. If F8 does not work then you have a serious issue. Quote We are all members helping other members. brunoalan Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 The F8 key definatly does not work. Do you think it may be a keyboard problem? the one I use is wirefree! Quote
brunoalan Posted July 9, 2008 Author Posted July 9, 2008 I have changed the keyboard and got into safe mode, but I cannot do anything from there, it just brings up the log in screen in safe mode mate Quote
RandyL Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 A very possible cause. Please try a PS2 wired keyboard if you can. If that doesn't work it is strange as you can get to the logon screen and type. Or maybe it's just a stuck key. F8 It's really late for me but I'll check back tomorrow. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Dalo Harkin Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Brunoalan - for obvious reasons we cannot tell you how to change/alter the windows password - If it was not there originally, it would not just appear of its own accord - have you recently installed any service packs as some of them 'require' you to have a password log on screen Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.

maynardvdm Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Hi It can be either F2 or Del. When the computer first starts up it should say on the monitor what button it is. Goku Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Well, since you used the Mad smiley as the header of your post, I thought you were being sarcastic. Please accept my apologies for the miscommunication caused. Glad you got it fixed. :) -- Goku Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 "I am in safe mode, with the log in screen displayed and I cannot cancel it, have a nice day mate and many thanks!!" This statement appears to be condescending Bruno and perhaps it was phrased incorrectly, however no harm done. :) Quote
