Guest Ed Stevens Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Just purchased an HP DV6405 laptop with Vista Home Premium and have entered software removal hell. Trying to remove pre-installed Vongo. Lot's of 'net traffic about it, with suggestions to use the Windows Installation Cleanup Utility, pointing to msicuu2.exe. Downloaded it and when I try to execute it I get "permission denied" - "Microsoft VBScript runtime error." What's up with that?
Guest Doug Knox - [MS-MVP] Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: problem with msicuu2.exe Ensure that you're running it as an Administrator. Right click the EXE file and select Run as Administrator. Then give it the username and password of a user with full Administrator privileges. Also, be sure that this application is designed for Vista. Otherwise, you could wind up doing more harm than good. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows Media Center\Windows Powered Smart Display\Security Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Per user Group Policy Restrictions for XP Home and XP Pro http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htm -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
