Microphone frequently not working despite of changing headphones, and even if it does work sometimes, it block any high frequency sound like shouting

I need to try several time before microphone start recording things instead of being muted. Sometimes the microphone does not start despite of the attempts. Othertime the microphone is back, and my talking voice can be recognized correctly with both high and low volume. However, as I sing and my pitch reach a point, the microphone mutes my voice (or at least reduced my voice) until I stop singing and sing again with low or normal pitch. My guess is that my voice is recognized as noise and somewhere in this computer exist a noice gate, but I just can not find it. How do I fix the problem?
