Guest FoxxBoogie Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 My battery went dead on my lap top. When I went to turn it back on after charging it, it came up telling me that I didnt shut down properly. So I had an option to boot back up in safe mode. I did, however when the 20 or 30 seconds went by, it appeared it was starting back up, but it keeps coming back up with same options as before. I have tried to start back up with all options. My laptop will not get pass that point. Can anyone help me out with this issue. I didnt download anything. My laptop was up to date with everything, and nortons had did its scheldule scan, no virus' or problems where reported. Thank you, FoxieBrown

Guest FoxxBoogie Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: safe mode Thanks FrankV for responding...Yes It states "last known good configuration"( your most recent setting that worked).I did that, and hit f8 and nothing is working. Guest FoxxBoogie Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: safe mode I have done all that, after the 30 seconds before restarting, the window logo comes up and the bar is scrolling as if its about to restart. It never restart. It keeps on doing the same thing over and over again. I can never get to my window screen. I have turned the laptop off, and the same thing keeps happening "FrankV" wrote: > Don't hit the F8 again. Guest FoxxBoogie Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: safe mode The laptop powers off by itself, and comes right back to the same screen the screen states " we aplogize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully" and its gives the options on how to restart, as I said previously, I have chose all options. None are working. My laptop keeps powering off and coming back to all I have stated. "FrankV" wrote: > Did it have the option "last good boot"? Guest db ´¯`·.. > Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: safe mode sometimes, when there is an interruption of power, like from lightening, windows may have a problem booting correctly. in your case it was due to a low battery and you didn't have hibernation enabled to initiate prior to loosing all power. hibernation would have shut down windows expediciously, thus perserving the integrity of the o.s. and file system. therefore, you might try to use the "recovery console" by booting with a windows cd and log into the file system. at the prompt run: chkdsk fixboot then "exit" and see if you can reboot normally without the cd. here are some details about the process. the above is a quick shortcut: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058 if by chance you cannot obtain' any windows setup to simply access the recovery console you might be able to initiate a recovery console from your hd via safemode. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/216417 the above should work. however, if it does not, then we may have to look a bit deeper into the issue you are having. let us know your stats. -- db ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·..><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º>¸. ><)))º>·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. ><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º> .. I cant even get back to windows screen that displays my desk top You need to boot from the CD - when you turn the PC on, go into set-up (F12 or F10, or the button that says "set-up") and change the first boot device to CD. Guest db ´¯`·.. > Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Re: safe mode most motherboards are set to skip the cd and boot directly from the hd. so what you should do is to access your bios/cmos settings. once you have access to the cmos settings, check around for something relating to setting / enabling the first boot device to be the cd. afterwards, save, exit and the reboot will check your cd drive. btw: check your laptop manual or go to the website for your laptop and check out the instructions to access your cmos menu. -- db ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·..><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º>¸. ><)))º>·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. ><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º> ..
