Lenovo laptop will not charge properly, and 255% battery charge is displayed. Solved.

Many people are having a problem with the charging of Lenovo laptops with the battery charge in the notification area displayed as 255%. For me, on a Lenovo Thinkpad T420s running Windows 10 Home 64-bit, the solution was to go to the Lenovo support site for my model and in the Power Management category download and install the Lenovo Power Management Driver, 1.67.4.05. This driver is listed on the Lenovo support site as being for Windows XP, and if you go to driver download page and select anything newer than XP in the operating system pull-down menu, the driver will not be displayed.
