Windows Vista error 'the User Profile Service failed the login'. tried several suggestions without success. how can Safe mode help?

I have an order acer desktop PC that was only used for old games- Silent Hunter 4, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, Anytime Organizer, older MS Office...etc. PC needs storage clean up and unused programs uninstalled by Admin (me), as PC very slow. I do have a newer laptop but miss my old programs that will not load on new laptop. Old desktop will not load my admin user file. error 'The User Profile Service failed the Login'.
