Guest pbl Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 When I am not directly downloading or otherwise using the internet I can see that my internet meter in the notification area of the taskbar contiuues to show high levels of internet activity. Is there some way I can determine which applications are accessing the internet on my pc? I would like better control than I have presently over bandwidth.

You could also possibly have a malware type that is phoning home. You may want to run a virus and malware scan to make sure this isn't what's going on. HTH cf

Guest Dave Neve Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Re: What applications are accessing the internet? Hi Another free program is 'active ports' at http://www.protect-me.com/?from=prog_aports Otherwise, ask your firewall to notify you if a program tries to access the NET and eventually, you should be able to find the guilty program. Finally, your computer may be a zoombie (used by a third party without your knowledge) in which case you'll have to find the malware/trojan and eradicate it Regards Dave Neve Once you "John" <me@zen.co.uk> a écrit dans le message de news: 46bd7ace$0$24755$da0feed9@news.zen.co.uk... > pbl wrote: >> When I am not directly downloading or otherwise using the internet I can >> see that my internet meter in the notification area of the taskbar >> contiuues to show high levels of internet activity.
