A few months ago, I saw a thread on how to change the serial number on an XP

Pro machine without reloading the OS....I can't seem to find that thread

again and was wondering if someone could post the information again.

The search you were looking for to figure out how to change you Windows XP

Product Key (Serial Number) to something else without a fresh

installation...

http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q=&num=100&scoring=d&as_epq=Genuine+Advantage+Product+Key

Most of which should have the following text:

The Genuine Advantage Product Key Update Tool is only valid for

users attempting to change their current non-genuine Product Key

to a genuine COA sticker or genuine Product Key - all without a

reinstall!

Re: Changing serial number

Anne - has Shenan implies - you must have a valid product key to "replace"

the current key. Also the Microsoft Knowledge Base reference pertains to

VLKs.

Magic Jelly Bean ( http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml)

will allow you to change the product key *provided* the new key is a

valid one for that specific edition and version of Windows XP.

Good luck
